An emergency in a business environment is any situation which has caused or has the potential to create a significant negative impact on the people, structures, systems or business effectiveness of the corporation or business and requires a focussed and coordinated effort to prevent or recover from
A disaster in this context is considered to be any event or events which overwhelms the people and the internal structures and systems of the business or organisation to the extent that either no recovery is possible or  recovery is only possible with the aid of external help.
